Workshop, Community & Conscious Creation
🌼 1. The Conscious Consumerism Workshop — Creativity With Purpose
Hosted at M Café as part of a community wellness event, our Conscious Consumerism Workshop brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds — working professionals, creatives, and young changemakers — for a two-hour immersive creative experience.
Participants were invited to design their own organic cotton tote bags using upcycled patches, paints, fabric remnants, and hand-stitching materials.
The aim wasn’t simply to create a pretty tote; it was to help people understand the emotional and environmental value of extending a garment’s life.
Through demonstrations on care, repair, patchwork, and simple upcycling techniques, we introduced practical ways to increase the shelf life of their wardrobes — without losing personal style or the joy of dressing.
Key impact:
-
Encouraged mindful consumption through a hands-on format
-
Introduced participants to upcycling as a creative, accessible practice
-
Provided each attendee with a Care & Repair Kit, enabling continued circular habits at home
-
Sparked conversations about repurposing, pre-loved fashion, and emotional longevity in clothing
🌿 2. Erna × Greener Café — Circularity in Everyday Spaces
Our collaboration with Greener Café was designed to integrate circular design into everyday lifestyle experiences.
Using post-production fabric waste and textile remnants from the studio, we created a range of:
-
Upcycled bookmarks
-
Fabric coasters
-
Mini patches and keepsakes
These pieces were handcrafted using leftover trims, fabrics, threads, and artisanal details — transforming what would have become waste into functional, aesthetically pleasing objects.
Displayed within the café’s warm, eco-conscious setting, the pieces became natural conversation starters, offering visitors a tangible example of circularity beyond clothing.
Impact created:
-
Repurposed approximately 3 kg of post-production waste
-
Introduced conscious design to a wider, lifestyle-focused audience
-
Inspired customers to explore upcycling in their own homes
🌸 3. Why These Initiatives Matter
Sustainability becomes powerful when it feels personal.
Through workshops, community gatherings, and lifestyle collaborations, we aim to make conscious living approachable — not intimidating, not overwhelming, but joyful and expressive.
These initiatives help us:
-
Build a community that values mindful consumption
-
Showcase the creative potential of repurposed materials
-
Make sustainability feel artisanal, emotional, and accessible
-
Strengthen the bridge between craft and community
Every patch applied, every tote designed, every bookmark stitched is a reminder that sustainability thrives through participation, not perfection.
🌿 4. What’s Next for Erna
We’re excited to take these workshops to new spaces — from cafés and creative studios to universities and youth clubs — empowering more individuals to explore repair, repurposing, and conscious fashion practices.
This journey continues to be shaped by the people who join us, create with us, and carry forward the spirit of mindful design in their everyday lives.
